(November 30, 2011 - Hazelwood, MO) - Ameren Missouri has generously donated a parcel of land to Valley Inductries, which is directly southeast of the workshop's facility in Hazelwood. Officials from both Ameren Missouri and Valley Industries joined St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley and other invited dignitaries for a special ceremony on Wednesday, November 30, to complete the transfer of deed.
This parcel of donated land will be used to improve traffc flow, which will have a direct impact on the safety of workers who are transported to and from the workshop. It also will provide direct access for large trucks to deliver production supplies and pick up finished products for shipment at the facility. Hani Qasem watched the workers at Valley Industries in Hazelwood. With a smile, he lifted his cell phone to his eyes, aimed carefully and took a photograph.
For a few minutes, he looked like a typical tourist. However, he wasn't in St. Louis on vacation. He and two colleagues were on a learning mission.

Valley Industries names Workers of the Month Valley Industries has congratulated Jim Keiper and Mary Wojciechowski for achieving the Worker of the Month award. Each month, Valley Industries and sponsor Delmar Gardens North, recognize a male and female employee who have done an outstanding job throughout the month, performed exceptionally well on a project or worked to the best of his or her abilities.

Green-tie gala benefits sheltered workshop

Green was the theme of Saturday night's Mayors' Shamrock Ball in Florissant - participants donned green attire and enjoyed green refreshments to raise a few greenbacks for the Valley Industries sheltered workshop in Hazelwood.
Several hundred people attended the third annual event, held at Florissant City Hall. Black Jack Mayor Norman McCourt, Florissant Mayor Robert Lowery Sr. and Hazelwood Mayor Matthew Robinson served as the evening's hosts.

When Hazelwood Police Chief Carl Wolf created the Mayors' Shamrock Ball three years ago, it was a simple fundraiser for Valley Industries. Much to his surprise, it since has become the premiere green tie event of the year.
"Everybody has a good time," said Wolf, also a board member and chairman of the event. "Each year it gets better."

Some travelers, no matter where they are, feel right at home. "I love it in St. Louis, " says Drew Johnson from Boise, Idaho Johnson believes that there is wonder in wandering. "My personal philosphy in life is kindess begets kindness, " he says. The 30 year old has come to St. Louis to spend some time volunteering at Valley Industries, a sheltered workshop in Hazelwood.
